HOW TO WIN DEMOCRACY

Whenever democracy suffers the first and only losers are the People who constitute democracy. But people in every failed democracy never realized this reality before ultimate fall of their democracy. 

              People have failed democracy in past for such reasons which were not for well being of people themselves such as communal disharmony, ethnic supermacy, linguistic chauvinism, etc. Everytimr when democracy fails only a handful of people get benefitted. 

              Leaders, of course  have been responsible. Some leaders have engineered the pathway for failure of democracy, some others who have  detected the symptoms of failure  failed to educate and inform the people in time and they also failed to adopt appropriate methods to counter . And once democracy is failed, people suffers for a long time. See examples of Turkey, Poland, Hungry, Columbia, Mexico etc.

           In India where right and far right have been digging hole to lay down democracy in the name of religion. Their tools are fake news, hate speech, and violence. They have been efficiently using social media to define narrative. Their Supreme leader himself takes lead for spreading fake news and hate  and uses all sorts  of coercive tools including gruesome violence . On the one hand this group is working hard to establish the desired narrative among people and on the other hand is employing all means to compel people to fall in line. But the opposition has failed on almost all fronts. Although many states are still under rule of those who are in opposition at Center yet  such state governments have not shown skill how to use media, social media, institutions, and resources which are on their disposal to establish their own narrative.      

                      In fact electoral democracy is a fight between perceptions and perceptions are created in minds. So along with the works of governance there are many tasks left for creation of  perception  and narrative building for  opposition ruled state governments  Elections are not fought and won by data of socio economic achievements only. Such data are additional resources . Main resource is propaganda and Indian Centrist and left parties have failed to counter fake with truth and hate with constructive compassion. Unless this is not done by opposition parties, unless falsehood and hate of right and far right are not exposed among masses democracy can't be saved. Every act of hate and fake has to be countered both in virtual world-social media and in real world by direct action among common people.

   Beaware of one reality of democracy, contrary to popular belief voters vote on the basis of narratives and not on the basis of works done. In elections it is not necessary to fight on various fronts. Only a few fronts are opened and all sorts of strategies are employed to establish those few. All caste equations and other combinations and permutations are to be done only on microlevel. Before winning EVMs they need to win space at social media. Before actual voting happens war of perceptions and narratives have to be waged and won. If truth can not triumph democracy can't be saved.
