NEW INDIA- WHAT IS VS WHAT SHOULD BE?

Politics of New India has missed the opportunity of making India great as it has lost its way in the thorny jungles of hate and fake and is sinking into the marshy lands of defective welfarism.

Today’s politics has been oriented to rely on identities of population in terms of religion, caste, language, region (north-south divide) and a policy of welfarism which doesn’t aim at improving the lot of people by providing them agencies of production. New India, of course, still conducts elections to elect the governments but election discourses have been deflected from issues of democratic standards and emotional enticements in the name of communal identities have become the primary source of identity and socio-political interaction. Similarly, in the name of welfarism, irrational free distribution of goods at the cost of tax money without approval of democratic authorities and scrutiny  have become a platform for attracting votes. No serious policy is being introduced to enhance the productivity of people by making arrangements for provisions for health, education, employment and tech skill. Free food is helpful in preventing starvation but then its usefulness stops. There is no serious policy initiative for large scale industrialization, and for making people employable for industries. Skill India, Make in India, Mudra Loan, Atmanirbhar Bharat and there are other so many announcements which performance have never been debated on any democratic plateform. Vast size of working age population is being spoiled as surplus population. Similarly, there is no policy initiative to modernize the administrative set up and its technical upgradation in New India. Vast network of digital infrastructure is being used by political parties 24×7 for spreading identity based propaganda whereas it could be efficiently used to upgrade the technical capability and viability of working age and young population. In this New India, no party and no government is coming with novel ideas for such things and politics which should be a vehicle for change for something progressively good is paving the way to a future of converting India’s vast manpower into a SURPLUS POPULATION.

         This requires urgent attention. If we really want to make something good , Indian politics urgently needs to deal with the issues, such as

1. What specific policies or reforms could be implemented to address the concerns raised?
2. How can we ensure that political discourse focuses on issues of national importance rather than divisive identities?
3. What role can technology play in promoting education, skill development, and economic growth?
4. How can we engage citizens in the political process and encourage active participation in shaping the future of India?
5. How can democratic and governing institutions, democratic rights of people and public discourse and constitutionalism be ensured?

By addressing these questions and engaging in open and honest dialogue, we can work towards building a more just, equitable, and prosperous  India. Without doing so, we will keep beating a stick on the surface of water. India needs positive cooperation and impartial endeavour. Politics of manoeuvring should be shown the door and the principles of the Preamble should be enshrined with our development story.

   It is important to note that these are just some initial suggestions, and further discussion and analysis are needed to develop comprehensive and effective solutions. The statement provides a valuable starting point for a much-needed conversation about the future of Indian politics and the steps needed to make India a truly great nation.
