The rise of democracy is directly linked with the rise of market economies and industrialization. However, changes in technology and the market economy are bound to bring significant and disruptive changes to democracy. Changing technology demands the restructuring of society, a demand that can be met by recognizing the importance of education and skill development. If education, skill development, and capability building are recognized as core achievements for utilizing the benefits of technology and its resulting advancements, then only can citizens of a modern democracy be produced who would become the guardians of democracy. Otherwise, democracy is destined to face its downfall. Therefore, if we wish to keep democracy as the dominant ideology, we need to spread modern education and skill along with humanistic ideals throughout the globe.
